Title: Teen Town

The structure depicted is an equipment shed at a track and field facility I pass by when walking my dog in the morning. The light hitting it in the summer mornings created a suggestion of a parallelogram. This and the nearby woods created a wonderful juxtaposition of natural and man made shapes. This confluence of shapes is usually what drives me towards a subject. In the drawing stages as the components of the picture are being broken down and opened up, possibilities for geometric interventions begin to show themselves. In this instance I chose the angle of the shadow to base the fictional elements on. Through a careful rendering process the detailed nuances of photorealistic painting are combined with the call and response nature of abstract painting. The end result creates an entirely new space.
