Niloufar Salimi (b. 1982, Shiraz, Iran) is an artist based in Toronto. She completed her MFA at Western University and holds a BFA from OCAD University. Salimi has received several Ontario Arts Council Grants, which have supported the development of her artistic practice. In addition to her studio work, she is the Curator of Programs at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, fostering connections between contemporary art and diverse audiences. I also wrote a short statement, not sure if it is applicable or if you wanted to add it to the bio: In the third week of spring in Shiraz, the scent of nārenj blossoms fills the air until it seems the sky is breathing it in. My aunt planted a seed years ago in Toronto, and it grew into a small tree. It hasn't bloomed yet, but every time I pass by, I rub its leaves between my fingers, releasing a scent like no other. I watch each leaf, how it twists, turns toward light, grows old, and falls. Until the day we are made drunken by its blossoms, I remain here, observing, waiting for what's promised in each green breath.
