John Lennard _ Lot # 18
Roberts Gallery
Title: The Colours of St Paul De Vence
About this piece: The painting The Colours Of St Paul de Vence was inspired by my time in Nice. By observing the colours and energy of the South of France I could see where the inspiration of some of my favorite painters came from. John Lennard has donated to Art Gems for the last 15 years. He is represented by the Roberts Gallery in Toronto. John Lennard has had solo shows across Canada, in New York at the Prince Street Gallery and in a group show in Berlin at the Krause gallery. He was represented in the Armory Show in New York 2008 as part of The Quiet Revolution in Canadian Art which represented 29 Canadian painters. I found myself absorbed in a local report about a street I know well, a community I walk through every day. In that moment, I realized that somewhere along the way, Toronto had become home, and its wounds had become mine too.
