Title: From here from there

About this piece: The series In Particular, In Spring grew out of a simple daily habit that kept me connected to life during a difficult time. I began drawing flowers and small handwritten notes on the ordinary papers; bills, official letters and envelopes, medication notes, newspapers, and paper bags that quietly record our personal histories. This practice became a way to document everyday survival: small gestures of resilience, and a method of holding memory before it slipped away. In this piece “From there to here”, I drew a bottle of Peruvian lilies over a newspaper article about homelessness in Toronto. I had opened the paper expecting to read political news from Iran or the international stories I usually follow, but instead I found myself absorbed in a local report about a street I know well, a community I walk through every day. In that moment, I realized that somewhere along the way, Toronto had become home, and its wounds had become mine too.
