Danielle Bobier is a Vancouver-based painter whose practice reflects on the act of horizon-gazing, observing the inner and outer landscape through a symbolic lens. She has shown in numerous exhibitions, most recently at spaces such as Art Rental & Sales at the Vancouver Art Gallery, Trapp Projects, and the Contemporary Art Gallery. She holds a BFA in Visual Arts from Emily Carr University of Art + Design (2016). Her work can be found in collections across Canada and in the US. About the Work: This work and others in this series consider how painting can act as a bridge between one’s inner and outer realms. I’m interested in themes of isolation, impermanence, place-memory, atmosphere, and shelter-seeking. I draw influence from geometric abstraction, romanticism, and science fiction, focusing on aspects of duality: expansion and containment; vertical and horizontal; grounding and ungrounding.
