Bahar Taheri is a Montreal-based artist who works in painting and drawing, printmaking, video, and installation. Born in Tehran in 1980, she earned both a BFA and an MFA in painting from Sooreh Art University. Taheri has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions across Canada, Iran, and Europe, where she has also participated in several artist residencies. Long interested in sacred geometry, Taheri has been deconstructing architectural icons as a means to explore the physical manifestations of power and ideology. She envisions a utopian intersection of multiple countries, cultures and beliefs where unity exists beyond differences and division. Taheri is the recipient of grants from the Conseil des arts et des letters du Québec, Montreal Intercultural Arts, and the Montréal Arts Council. Her work may be found in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and various private collections.
