Stefanie Gogan’s paintings explore our human perception of nature and space, as well as our behaviour to construct, build, and shape our world. Using botanical themes, such as greenhouses, windows, and plants, Gogan creates environments for her subjects that blur the lines between interior and exterior space. She aims for the viewer to become more starkly aware of the space they fit into by questioning the narrative being presented. Her recent work depicts her subjects working, actively designing, fabricating, and consuming within these constructed spaces.
Gogan holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from OCAD University and a Visual and Creative Arts Diploma from Sheridan College. In 2015 she was the recipient of the Eric Freifeld figure draughtsmanship award from OCADU. She recently had her first Solo Show at Quest Art Gallery in Midland in 2019.
