Polymetis Studio

Founded by Michaela MacLeod and Nicholas Croft, Polymetis Studio is an architecture and landscape studio based in Toronto. Working at the intersection between the traditional fields of architecture, landscape, and art, each project is approached with an awareness of the influences that create our surrounding environment and how those forces may be constructed or controlled to reveal a familiar territory or space from an unusual perspective. The studio’s site-specific projects focus on experimental production, blending manual and digital skills that inspire new fields of exploration, which is core to the work ethos. The aim is to create works that are thoughtful, engaging, and beautiful.

MacLeod is from Moncton, New Brunswick and earned her professional degree in architecture from the University of Waterloo. She was awarded the Ontario’s Architects Association Guild Medal Award and the Prix de Rome in Architecture for Emerging Practitioners for her research work on contaminated landscapes located within the public realm. She is an intern architect with the Ontario Association of Architects, and also works as a sessional instructor at the University of Toronto and Ryerson University.

Originally from Bellingham, Washington, Croft earned his professional degree in architecture from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he received the American Institute of Architects Henry Adams Medal, and holds a post-professional Master of Architecture in Urban Design from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Croft has worked as an Intern Architect at 3six0, Studio Luz, and Studio Daniel Libeskind; and as an artist assistant and digital fabrication specialist for Maya Lin.
