The paintings of John Lennard reflect a direct response to nature and the environment. Travel, observation of life, and the study of the international masters continue to infuse Lennard’s artistic expression. Lennard has lived in New York, Paris and Barcelona, and his further travels throughout Canada, the United States and Europe continue to shape his art. His colourful landscape paintings infused with brilliant reds, oranges and blues aptly illustrate the Canadian forests and countryside, as well as the many countries he has visited overseas.
Lennard studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design and the Art Students’ League in New York. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His work can be found in corporate collections, including Heenan Blaikie, Tory Tory DesLauriers & Binnington, and Joe Fung Architects (Hong Kong), as well as in private collections throughout North America, and in Spain, Scotland, and Germany. In November 2017, he was included in the acclaimed show John Lennard/Jack Bushat Roberts Gallery, where his works were displayed alongside Painters Eleven artist Jack Bush. He is represented by Roberts Gallery in Toronto, where his most recent solo show took place in December 2018.
