Anna Snyder is a lens-based artist and educator from Toronto. She received her MFA from York University and holds a BFA in photography from OCAD University. Her work has been exhibited in galleries across North America, including Division Gallery (Toronto), Bunker2 (Toronto) and Black Box Gallery (Portland). She is the recipient of several awards, including Magenta Foundation’s Flash Forward, The Artist Project’s Untapped Emerging Artist, and Blackflash Magazine’s Image Contest.
Through exploratory modes of image making, Anna’s practice examines the complex ecology of the Canadian landscape and the transformative potential of materials. Her work oscillates between fact and fiction, and aims to disrupt our assumptions of place within the universe.
